Greenhouse Gas Analyzer 

Optimised for the analysis of greenhouse gases – methane, carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide 

The SCION Greenhouse Gas Analyzer provides a turnkey solution for the analysis of greenhouse gases, methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide in stack or ambient air. With the addition of a PAL Combi-xt Headspace sampler, water, soil, or organic material can also be analysed for greenhouse gases.  

The analyser is configured with two chromatographic channels: 

  • Channel one is equipped with a TCD and an FID in series for the analysis of carbon dioxide and methane 
  • Channel two is equipped with an ECD for the analysis of nitrous oxide. Optionally, this channel can be configured for the analysis of chlorofluorohydrocarbons and/or sulfur hexafluoride  
  • When other sources need to be analysed, a PAL Combi-xt Headspace sampler is required. Water, soil or organic materials can be analysed using this headspace sampler 

Greenhouse Gas Analyzer

The system is configured and fully tuned and tested at the factory using all SCION components to ensure trouble-free operation. As a further guarantee, the system is installed, and performance checked by SCION at the customer’s site. 

The SCION Greenhouse Gas Analyser not only incorporates proven GC hardware and software but is also pre-loaded with analysis methods and documentation specific to the application. This makes the analyser very efficient and cost-effective. 

Specifications: 

  • Analysis time of approximately 6 minutes 
  • A minimum detection level of better than 50 ppb for methane and nitrous oxide, and better than 10 ppm for carbon dioxide 
  • Better than 2% relative standard deviation (on peak area) at ambient concentration levels, measured over 20 consecutive runs

Oxygenates/ Aromatics in Gasoline Analyzer on ASTM D4815-D5580  

Oxygenates/Aromatics analyzer for ASTM D4815 & D5580 is based on an 8300/8500 GC with FID and electronic flow control. A second detector in the vent channel is optional. An 8400 or 8410 Autosampler may be added as an option to the system. 

Methane Gas Analyzer

SCION Instruments standard 8300 GC based analyzers are easy to operate and fully automated.  

  • Operational parameters, including gas flows, are factory tuned and set.  
  • The complete chromatographic method is stored.  
  • Electronic Flow Control is implemented.  
  • The pre-programmed methods ensure direct measurements.  

Low Level Oxygenates Analyzer  

The Low Level Oxygenates analyzer is an 8300/8500 GC system for the determination of sub ppm to high ppm levels of ethers, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones in different hydrocarbon matrices. Using highly selective capillary columns the analyzer separates the oxygenates from the hydrocarbons into individual oxygenated components with a final boiling point up to 100°C. Designed for natural gas up to heavy naphthas with final boiling point up to 250°C.  

Sample introduction is flexible since the GC is equipped with a liquid and a gas injection valve. The sample may be a gas with a maximum pressure of 600 kPa (85 psi), an LPG with a maximum pressure of 2000 kPa (290 psi) optional pressure station required, or a liquid (gasolines or naphthas etc). 

The Analyzer is based on a single channel multi-dimensional capillary column system using electronic flow control and an FID as detector.

Methanol in Crude Analyzers Including Autosampler  

The Methanol in Crude Oil Analyzer is based on the 8300/8500 GC and the SCION-Lowox column.  

The Analyzer detects between 15 – 900 ppm level of methanol in crude oils and is according to ASTM D7059 .

Benzene/Toluene in Gasoline Analyzer on ASTM D3606 – Configuration C  

Aromatics Analyzers for ASTM D3606 are based on a 8300/8500 GC with TCD and electronic flow control.
