People of SCION - Zayed Baccari
Here at SCION, we are proud of all our employees for all they do behind the scenes, so we thought it was time to put them in the spotlight. This series does exactly that; you get a sneak peek into what drives, excites and enamours our team. We hope you enjoy it!
Let’s get into it…
Meet Zayed Baccari, Sales Manager Africa here at SCION Instruments!
What does a typical week look like for you?
My week is a balance between supporting our distributors across Africa and Jordan, assisting customers with technical and commercial needs, and coordinating with our internal teams to ensure smooth execution of projects. My days are often filled with meetings across different time zones, preparing offers and strategies for tenders, and following up on shipments and logistics — but what I enjoy the most is building relationships and seeing our brands, SCION and the entire Techcomp Group, grow in new regions.
What has been your journey to get you to where you are now?
I hold a PhD in organic chemistry, a field in which I completed my doctorate before moving into the scientific instrumentation industry. I worked in laboratories alongside users, training them and helping to develop analytical methods tailored to their needs. Over the years, I have gained solid experience working with customers and distributors across Africa and Jordan, combining my scientific knowledge with commercial expertise. This naturally brought me to SCION Instruments, and today I manage both SCION and the entire Techcomp Group across these markets.
What made you choose SCION? and how long have you been here?
I chose SCION because I enjoy growing with a company that is dynamic and fast-moving, offering real opportunities for development. SCION is a company that values innovation, quality, and people. Our instruments are highly respected in the market, but what truly makes the difference is the collaborative spirit within the teams. What makes me especially proud is that every year we gain more significant market share, strengthening our presence across Africa and Jordan. We have collaborated with major references in the petrochemical, environmental, academic, and food sectors, which further enhances the reputation of SCION and the Techcomp Group. I have been with SCION for 4 years now, and today I also manage all the Techcomp brands across Africa and Jordan.
Do you have any hobbies/ interests?
Yes, I enjoy traveling and discovering new cultures — Africa and Jordan offer incredible diversity that I find truly fascinating. I am also passionate about reading, psychology, and personal development. On a lighter note, I enjoy football, and spending time with my family is always a priority.
Tell me something interesting about yourself
I am originally from Tunisia, but I work across the entire African continent as well as Jordan, representing SCION and all the Techcomp brands. I switch daily between Arabic, French, and English — sometimes all three in a single meeting! This cultural adaptability is something I really enjoy and that keeps me motivated every day.
What is top of your bucket list?
At the top of my bucket list is to visit China — I admire its culture, its balance between tradition and innovation, and of course its cuisine. On a professional level, my goal is to see SCION and the Techcomp Group become the leading reference brands across Africa and Jordan in the coming years.
